René Lalique, Coquilles bowl in opalescent clear glass and shell design. Signed'R Lalique' as photographed.
Diameter 8.25 inches, Height 3.25 inches. Sits on four built-in feet. This overlapping shell design was very successful in the early days of René Lalique's glass company. They produced plates and bowls in various sizes, both opalescent and clear glass. This is a relatively large diameter bowl.
It is a gorgeous decorative piece that can also be used for serving. Notice how the bowl comes alive under good lighting. They were taken near a large window in natural daylight on an overcast day. The interior shell design really pops.
Just a gorgeous example of René Lalique's amazing design talents. I'm finding no chips, scuffs, bruises, cracks, or other damage. Even the four feet that the bowl sits on are scratch free. I did find one or two very tiny bubbles which are typical in R Lalique pieces of this age. I also found two straw marks from manufacturing inside the bowl that aren't very noticeable unless you have the light just right.
Bubbles and straw marks are common in R Lalique items of this age. The item "8.25 René Lalique Opalescent Coquilles Bowl Signed R Lalique #3201 Rene" is in sale since Sunday, April 28, 2019.
