The bride's bowl stand or basket was made by the Meriden Silver Plate Company in the U. Likely produced in the late 1800s. The fine detailing was carefully crafted with a flower-filled basket on the handle, and birds and botanical motif on the base and sides - note the ferns and swallows! The quadruple silver plating seems to be in excellent condition -- it was only lightly polished for the photos. The basket is 10 3/4 tall. The glass bride's bowl is s. Wirled cotton candy pink and robin's egg blue with silver mica flakes inside. I first thought this glass bowl was Spangle glass; however, a helpful collector wrote indicating it was considered "Rainbow" glass. The bowl has just a few somewhat rough places on the highly scalloped edging, which may be small flakes or original to the manufacture. There is a delicate line mixed with the design in the bowl's interior.
It does not appear to be a hairline, as it does not come to the surface on either side, so it likely occurred during the original manufacture. The bowl has a round pontil mark on the bottom indicative of its age. The bowl is 9 in diameter. This lovely antique basket and bride's bowl would be a great addition to any collection or a truly special gift.
