Steuben Frederick Carder Verre de Soie Bowl 3103 Turquoise Threading Prunts
Steuben Verre de Soie Bowl with Turquoise Decoration. We are very pleased to offer you this absolutely breathtaking antique Steuben Glass Works footed Verre de Soie bowl with turquoise colored threading, prunts and rims. Aptly named "Verre de Soie" which translated from French means "glass of silk", this glass has a soft silky surface which was achieved by spraying the nearly molten glass with stannous chloride. The spraying resulted in a subtle rainbow-colored iridescence. It was all but impossible to capture in our photographs the beauty of this bowl's iridescence.
In overall very good antique condition with only a very tiny nick to the base rim. Made about 1916, the paper label used on Verre de Soie pieces has long since disappeared. Shape #3103, it measures approximately 13 in diameter and 4-3/4 in height. Please visit our other listings for a pair of gorgeous Steuben Verre de Soie twist candlesticks!
